THE DAMN WEBSITE ERASED THIS THE FIRST TIME, BUT I AM IN SUCH A FIT OF ANGER I'M TYPING IT AGAIN BEOTCHES.
So, anyways, people have been confused about the difference between Vocaloids, UTAU, and stupid fanloids. So this post is to show the difference between them. If anyone has a video and cannot seem to decide what category it falls under, post it here.
VOCALOID Official Vocaloids (Virtual Pop Idols) from Japan. (Not just Software or Voice banks) Vocaloids have a fan base, play concerts, sell merchandise, and have CDS on sale, which are mixed by record companies in Japan, not stupid otaku. Their music videos are usually produced by Nico Nico. Sometimes real singers are commissoned to sing the Vocaloid songs, not Vice-Versa.
Vocaloid Examples: Miku, Kaito, Gakupo, Ren, Len, Luka.
Video Examples:
From the CD: "SCL Project Feat. VanaN'ice" (Jrock Band) www.youtube.com/watch?v=dna4OTwhzOo
THIS IS HOW POPULAR THE VOCALOIDS ARE: TOYOTA AD? www.youtube.com/watch?v=E15PE7iGT0U&playnext=1&list=PLF5E01404E324C676
Utau These are Japanese-made fanloids using free software. Some videos are posted to Nico Nico, but they lack the backing, quality, and the offical vocaloid title.
Examples:
Random Utau: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Do0f5OPxYlk
Stupid Fanloids When Americans get their hands on software and attempt vocaloid........DO NOT SUPPORT THIS. xD
Example: (A very extreme example but it all sounds like this to me)www.youtube.com/watch?v=loiG_xNwdgU

Nico Nico Douga is the thirteenth most popular website in Japan. It allows videos to be posted and commented on by users. However, it requires a registration. The Nico Nico Chorus is a group of singers who specializes in covering songs on Nico Nico. There are also bands, (Like VanaN'ice) that use Vocaloid voices in their songs.
I also must apologize, Vocaloid Leon and Lola are real products. However, they were prototypes made by some English company with no voice base to go off of. Meiko and Kaito followed, but after they did not sell well, the Japanese company created an image/merchandise for them. Leon and Lola don't have a set image, which is why their videos suck.
These are released vocaloids:
Leon Lola Miriam Meiko Kaito
Vocaloid 2:
Hatsune Miku Kagamine Rin & Len
Vocaloid 3:
Megurine Luka Kamui Gakupo Megpoid Sweet Ann Prima Big-Al Sonika
However, Some are Japanese-Released and some are English-Released (Aka not made in Japan) The Japanese vocaloids are the ones that are more widely accepted, and usually have more professional videos (Sometimes even made in record companies)
These are the Nico Nico Vocaloids, or the most popular ones...I'm going to attempt to put them in order from most popular to least
Hatsune Miku Kaito Kagamine Rin and Len Megurine Luka Gakupo Meiko
Also, most of the latter vocaloids have a voice base. Most famously, Gakupo's is the popular singer Gackt.
End of Story.
